Puntúa la entrada

Sometimes it’s hard to image that anything of cultural significance could possibly have taken place in Torrevieja prior to the population boom here. But we’d be wrong as the huge exception to the rule is the world renowned International Contest of Habanera and Polyphony, to be held in the Eras de la Sal from 23 to 30 July, which this year celebrates its 56th edition.

This year the Habaneras Festival hopes to reach out to a larger audience than ever before, [Img #2241]through the internet. For eight evenings, the event can be followed from anywhere in the world by visiting www.habaneras.org, which leads to torreviejaip.tv site. The audio of the event can be followed also from two other links on the homepage of the website of the Board and leading to the portals and arscreatio.com torreviejanet.com.

The councillor of Culture and Vice President of Municipal Habaneras, Eduardo Dolon Sanchez also reported that the Board has considered priority to this webcast, which in 2009 surpassed all previous ones, attracting14, 352 users in 63 countries, reaching the highest figures in the awards evening and closing.

Eduardo Dolon also announced that the Board's website Habaneras www.habaneras.org, has begun to multiply their visitor traffic and is expected to reach new heights on the days when the competition is held. At last year recorded about 10,000 visits from 60 different countries, with more expected than a thousand entries per day during this event.
