Los Verdes present an official request for a Youth Centre in Orihuela Costa

Martina Scheurer, spokeswoman for the green party Los Verdes in Orihuela Costa, said that, according to the padron, around 1,500 young people between 14 and 29 years of age live in Orihuela Costa.

Los Verdes denounce that "This group of citizens does not have any basic municipal installations for young people as there are in most other municipalities, such as library, meeting place etc. Politics should give major importance to young people to form them and help them to become young adults. In the case of young European residents it is even more important to help them, as they represent the motion of integration of different nationalities, cultures and languages".

The group of Los Verdes said that there are buildings destinated to “VPO” (public) on the Orihuela Costa which would have sufficient space for a Youth Center.

Therefore, Los Verdes have proposed a motion for the Town Hall of Orihuela to decide about the following points:

Destinate one of the existing buildings of VPO in Orihuela Costa to become a space dedicated to young people, with library etc.

Destinate an amount of money of the budget of 2010 to material and staff for this Youth Center.

Make the various departments involved elaborate a plan of actions to finalize this request.
